For CPA firms · Design partner sought

A done-for-you review service for small CPA firms. Built with one design partner.

Review-season capacity is the bottleneck for small firms in NH, MA and ME. We're building an AI-assisted fieldwork service, and we're looking for one firm to build it with.

Why now

Review season breaks the small-firm staffing model.

01

Demand peaks. Payroll doesn't.

Review work spikes in Q1 and parts of Q2 and Q3, but salaried staff cost the same all year. You either over-hire and carry the cost, or under-hire and bury your partners in busy season.

02

Junior staff are the bottleneck

Qualified review staff are harder to hire, take about a year to train, and often leave for industry within two.

03

AI changes the fieldwork math

Work that took a junior staffer about a week can now be a few hours of senior review on top of automated processing. Most small firms don't have time to build that workflow themselves.

How it works

You keep the client. We do the fieldwork.

We're an accounting firm, not a software company. AI takes on the work junior staff used to do, and a senior reviewer checks every engagement.

Your firm MBO
Owns the client relationship and engagement letter Takes in the trial balance, general ledger and support
Keeps signing authority and professional responsibility Runs ratio analysis, fluctuation explanations, sampling and supporting schedules
Partner performs the required review procedures Senior reviewer checks the output and escalates anomalies
Signs the workpapers and issues the report, under your name Delivers a workpaper package built to support your peer review obligations

We're a workpaper preparation layer, not a substitute for partner review. We never touch the client relationship.

The proposal

Every firm does workpapers its own way. The first partner shapes ours.

Workpaper formats, review checklists, documentation conventions and peer review expectations differ firm to firm. The design partner tunes the output to its standards before we offer the service more broadly.

What you get

A permanent rate advantage
Better terms than later firms, for the life of the partnership. Not an expiring pilot discount.
A workflow built to your standards
Workpaper format, documentation, checklist structure and peer review alignment shaped around your practice.
First-mover capacity
Review-season capacity competing regional firms won't have yet.
Direct founder access
No account managers, tickets or escalation tiers.

What we need from you

2–3 real review engagements
Live client data and live partner review, not historical samples.
A few hours of partner time
Across each engagement, to review output and weigh in on format, substance and peer review.
Short written feedback
After each engagement: what worked, what didn't, what would make the workpapers more useful.
A reference, if it works
If it doesn't, we part cleanly. No NDA will stop you from speaking honestly about it.
To be clear
It's not free.
You pay for the work at the partnership rate. Favorable, not zero.
What we're not asking for
No exclusivity, equity or gag NDAs.
And no commitment beyond the design partnership engagements.

Next step

A 30-minute conversation.

We'll walk through the workflow, the workpaper output and the partnership economics, with time for your hard questions.

If it's a fit: a written design partner agreement.
If not: we both move on, no obligation.
